 Amateur Eligibility

  • 54-Hole Championship: Open to all Amateurs with current GOLF CANADA or USGA Handicap Factor of 18.0 or less.
  • Charity Pro-Am:  Open to all Amateurs with Golf Canada handicap factor of 28.0 or less.

Professional Eligibility

  • 54-Hole Championship: Open to all VGT, PGA of Canada, Mackenzie Tour Canada Professionals and “Mini-Tour” Professionals.  Non-carded Professionals may be required to provide prior Amateur or Mini Tour playing records to verify their playing ability.  Please email operations@vancouvergolftour.com with this information at the time of submitting your entry.
  • Charity Pro-Am: VGT will send invites out to Professionals through golf genius for this event. There is a guaranteed $5,000 purse up for grabs.  Professionals who bring a fully paid team to the Pro-Am will have their entry fee waived for the Pro-Am.

Amateurs:

A minimum of 70% of Amateur Golfers & ties in each Handicap Flight (Champ, A or B) & Division (Senior 8.0 or less) will make the 36-hole cut to play the final round based on alternating Gross & Net Results.

For example, if there are 40 players in a particular flight, a minimum of 28 players will make the cut as follows: The top 14 Gross scores + ties & top 14 net scores + ties will make the cut to play on Sunday.

Professionals:

Top 60% + ties in the pro field will make the 36-hole cut (48+ties if a full field of 80 pros with the top 32+ties being paid).

Women’s Open:

The Top 60% + ties in the Women’s Open Division will make the 36-Hole Cut to play Sunday.  In a case where no Female Amateurs are inside the top 60% of the Women’s Division thru 36 holes, the top 3 Female Amateurs will be invited to play for Low Female Amateur honors on Sunday!

The Top 40% of the Women’s Open Division (Pros + Amateurs combined) will make the Prize Table. A $1,000 minimum first place cheque will be offered to the top Female Professional thanks to MAUI JIM Canada and a minimum $500 Prize Credit will be offered to the top Female Amateur in the field (based on a minimum of 5 Pros + 5 Amateurs in the field)

Full Field:

224 golfers (144 amateurs; 80 Pros)

Pro Purses Totaling $45,000*

*$40,000 Open Purse + $5,000 Pro-Am Purse (Based on Full Field of 80 Pros & 144 Amateurs) 

(The Open Purse will be split between Men’s & Women’s Pro Divisions based on field size). For example, if 60 Male Pros & 20 Female Pros in each respective division, the Male Pro Purse = $30,000 & Women’s Pro Purse = $10,000 and vice versa.

Amateur Prizing: $45,000**

**Based on $25,000 in tee-gifts & $20,000 in prize tables for a full field of amateurs in the Charity Pro-am and in the 54-Hole Championship.

Amateur Prizing:

  • Overall Gross, Overall Net, Women’s Amateur Champion, Men’s Senior Champion
  • Top 25% of each Amateur Flight will make it to the prize table based on alternating Gross & Net  
  • Scores. With 40 players in each Flight, the Top 5 Gross & Top 5 Net Scores in each flight will prize out
  • Championship Flight, Flight A, and Flight B will be determined as close to 33% of the total field size of these 3 flights.

General Practice Rounds for Competitors

An 8:00am shotgun on the morning of the Van Open Pro Am on Wed Aug. 29th will be available to competitors for a rate of $40.00+tx to the first 60 competitors who sign-up.  Some additional allowances may be made the week before the event for practice rounds outside of Aug. 29th but will be determined later and restrictions will apply.

All Players Making Cut

  • Morning Wave: 7:30am – 9:10am (1st and 10th tees). Final round tee-times based on 36-Hole gross score.
  • Afternoon Wave: 12:00pm – 1:40pm start (1st & 10th tees). Leaders will tee-off last off the 1st tee.

Tee-times for Championship Amateurs and Professionals will be determined by true gross scores (not within flight) so Amateurs may play in the final groups if they are in position to win the tournament.  The top 6 Gross in each flight will be offered a PM tee time on day 3 to allow them to be a part of the prize presentations.

The following players have their entries secured in the field until August 1st, 2018.  All exempt players must confirm entry fee payment by 6pm PST on Aug.1st for their entries to be confirmed.  After such a time, the field will be open to all players who have registered with payment on a first come, first paid basis.

NOTE: Players from Category 1-3 have until August 1st, 2018 to confirm their entry on thru the member portal in golf genius to hold their exemption into the field.

Committee Exemptions.  (4 exemption spots).  Please email your request for an invitation to info@vancouvergolftour.com.  If you have not played on the VGT prior to this year, please provide your playing resume in the email, attention 2018 Vancouver Open Committee.

Category 4: Open Positions.  There is a minimum of 42 ‘OPEN’ spots available in the Vancouver Open for non-exempt Professionals based on a first come, first paid registration basis.

Any non-exempt player who pays for their entry and does not gain entry into the field will have their entry refunded in full. 

Any player who registers for the Vancouver Open and gains entry into a PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR LATINO AMERICA or WEB.COM event on the same week as the Vancouver Open will have their entry fee refunded in full.

If the field is full with 80 Pros, but not full with 144 Amateurs by the deadline of Aug.24th (and if we have additional Professionals on the wait list beyond 80), we will fill the event with all remaining Pros on the wait list. The same applies if we are not full with 80 Pros by Aug.24th and we have a wait list of amateurs above the 144 in the field.

AMATEUR EXEMPTIONS

There is a total of 144 Amateur player spots available in the 2018 Vancouver Open.  There is a minimum of 48 Open Amateur spots available to the first 48 players registered for the tournament with payment. The 96 amateurs who played in the 2017 Vancouver Open will have the opportunity to enter the event with priority until Aug.1, 2018.  After such a time, the field will be filled with those players who have registered with payment on a first come, first paid basis.

NOTE: If a player who enters with payment does not gain entry they will have their entries refunded in full.

The 54-Hole Championship includes:

  • Over $100/pp in Premier welcome gifts for All Amateur Competitors
  • All Professionals receive a welcome gift
  • Bagged Lunch provided each day you compete in the tournament (sandwich, drink, apple, cookie or snackbar)
  • Guaranteed 36-holes of Championship Golf at Vancouver Park Board’s Premier City Courses:
    • One (1) round at McCleery Golf Course
    • One (1) round at Langara Golf Couse
    • Top 70% of the Amateur Field will be guaranteed to play 54-Holes of Competition including the final round at Fraserview Golf Course
  • Live Leaderboard screens on the golf course & on VGT and Van Open Websites
  • Practice Round Pass Special: 3-round practice pack = $150+GST (Includes one round at each course – Fraserview, Langara, McCleery). Players are asked to e-transfer $157.50 to payments@vancouvergolftour.com to purchase the practice round passes. Password: VANCOUVER
  • Driving range warm-up available to all competitors in the tournament field that day.
  • Over $25,000 in Premier Amateur Prizing & Tee-gifts
  • Premier Trophies for Overall Champion, Low Overall Amateur, Overall Net, Women’s
  • Open & Amateur Champion, Senior Champion
  • Premier Awards for Overall Gross Winner in each flight

TOURNAMENT WITHDRAWAL POLICY

All Players must provide at least 7 days notice at 6pm PST to qualify for a full refund of their entry. 

  • All non-members must confirm their withdrawal by email to info@vancouvergolftour.com and ALL members must withdraw through Golf Genius Member’s section or with an email to info@vancouvergolftour.com by the deadline.
  • Players who provide less than 7 days notice for their withdrawal but more than 72 hours notice will qualify for a refund less $100 + GST admin fee.  
  • Players who do not provide 72 hours notice of their withdrawal will forfeit their full entry fee.
  • Players who register for the Vancouver Open and subsequently qualify for a Web.com Tour or PGA Tour or PGA TOUR Latino American event (that conflicts with the Vancouver Open) will have their entry fees fully refunded as long as VGT is notified in writing to info@vancouvergolftour.com more than 72 hours in advance and a player receives confirmation of this email. 
  • Failure to notify VGT more than 72 hours in advance will result in the normal withdrawal policy applying above.

NOTE: All penalties must be paid in full before their registration is accepted for any future VGT events.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Professional Practice Rounds

PGA of BC/Canada or Mackenzie Tour Players – Member must call the host Golf Club Professional for booking and approval.  Each competing PGA member is eligible for 1 comp round at each course only from Friday – Monday after 2:00pm.  No play on Tues – Thurs due to Men’s and Ladies’ Club play and the busy nature of all 3 courses these days.

Non PGA Member Competing Pros – Same rules as above however non PGA member pro must bring 3 full paying players with them to receive a complimentary round.  Otherwise they can play in the 8am Shotgun Start on Aug.29th for the $40 rate.

ADMISSION IS BY DONATION AT OUR REGISTRATION ALL 3 DAYS!  Proceeds will go to the FIRST TEE Program of Greater Vancouver.
