Amateur Eligibility

  • 54-Hole Championship: Open to all Amateurs with current GOLF CANADA or USGA Handicap Factor of 18.0 or less.
  • Charity Pro-Am:  Open to all Amateurs with Golf Canada handicap factor of 28.0 or less.

Professional Eligibility

  • 54-Hole Championship: Open to all VGT, PGA of Canada, Mackenzie Tour Canada Professionals and “Mini-Tour” Professionals.  Non-carded Professionals may be required to provide prior Amateur or Mini Tour playing records to verify their playing ability.  Please email with this information at the time of submitting your entry.
  • Charity Pro-Am: VGT will send invites out to Professionals through golf genius for this event. There is a guaranteed $5,000 purse up for grabs.  Professionals who bring a fully paid team to the Pro-Am will have their entry fee waived for the Pro-Am.


A minimum of 70% of Amateur Golfers & ties in each Handicap Flight (Champ, A or B) & Division will make the 36-hole cut to play the final round based on alternating Gross & Net Results. 

For example, if there are 40 players in a particular flight, a minimum of 28 players & ties will make the cut as follows: The top 14 Gross scores + ties & top 14 net scores + ties will make the cut to play on Sunday.

Senior Division:

We will crown an Overall Men’s & Women’s Senior Gross Champion in this event. The top 5 Gross Senior scores not making the cut in their own flight will make the cut to play on Sunday. All other seniors (55+) that make the cut in their own flight will be eligible to win the Overall Men’s or Women’s Senior Championship Trophy & available prizing.


Top 60% + ties in the pro field will make the 36-hole cut (48+ties if a full field of 80 pros with the top 32+ties being paid).

Women’s Open:

For the 2nd straight year the Vancouver Open will crown an Overall Women’s Open Champion and a Women’s Overall Amateur Champion at this year’s event to include Annual Trophy Presentations.

The Top 60% + ties in the Women’s Open Division will make the 36-Hole Cut to play Sunday.  In a case where no Female Amateurs are inside the top 60% of the Women’s Division thru 36 holes, the top 3 Female Amateurs will be invited to play for Low Female Amateur honors on Sunday!

The Top 40% of the Women’s Open Division (Pros + Amateurs combined) will make the Prize Table. A Bonus $250 first place cheque will be offered to the top Female Professional thanks to MAUI JIM Canada and a $250 Maui Jim Gift Card will be offered to the top Female Amateur in the field (based on minimum of 5 Pros + 5 Amateurs in field)

    • A minimum of the top 70% of the Amateur Field will be guaranteed to play 54-Holes of Competition including the final round at Fraserview Golf Course.  If less than 80 Pros register, a higher % of amateurs will be included in the cut-line to play on Sunday.  In 2018, there were 56 Pros registered and 85% of all amateurs made the cut.

  • Driving range warm-up is available to all competitors in the tournament field.

*$40,000 Open Purse + $5,000 Pro-Am Purse (Based on Full Field of 80 Pros & 144 Amateurs) 

(The Open Purse will be split between Men’s & Women’s Pro Divisions based on field size). For example, if 60 Male Pros & 20 Female Pros in each respective division, the Male Pro Purse = $30,000 & Women’s Pro Purse = $10,000 and vice versa.

Amateur Prizing: $45,000**

Amateur Prizing:

Tee-times for Championship Amateurs and Professionals will be determined by true gross scores (not within flight) so Amateurs may play in the final groups if they are in position to win the tournament.  The top 4 Gross & top 4 Net in each flight will be offered a PM tee time on day 3 to allow them to be a part of the prize presentations.


There will be a minimum of 32 non-exempt Professional player spots available for the 2019 Vancouver Open.  The first 32 non-exempt players to confirm their registration with payment will be entered in the 2019 Vancouver Open field. 

The following list of 48 players are exempt into the field and have their entries secured in the field until August 1st, 2019. All exempt players must confirm entry fee payment by 6pm PST on Aug.1st for their entries to be confirmed. After such a time, the field will be open to all players who have registered with payment on a first come, first paid basis.

Category 4: Current 2019 VGT Majors Members (14 players)

The First 14 VGT Majors Members registered with payment will have their registrations guaranteed for the 2019 Vancouver Open.

Category 5: Committee Exemptions (3 exemption spots)

Please email your request for an invitation to  If you have not played on the VGT prior to this year, please provide your playing resume in the email, attention 2019 Vancouver Open Committee.

NOTE: Players from Categories 1-5 have until August 1st, 2019 to confirm their entry on thru the member portal in golf genius and finalize their payment to guarantee their entry in the field.

Any non-exempt player who pays for their entry and does not gain entry into the field will have their entry refunded in full. 

Any player who registers for the Vancouver Open and gains entry into a PGA TOUR LATINO AMERICA or KORN FERRY TOUR event on the same week as the Vancouver Open will have their entry fee refunded in full.

If the field is full with 80 Pros, but not full with 144 Amateurs by the deadline of Aug.23rd (and if we have additional Professionals on the wait list beyond 80), we will fill the event with all remaining Pros on the wait list. The same applies if we are not full with 80 Pros by Aug.23rd and we have a wait list of amateurs above the 144 in the field.


There are 48 Amateur spots available to the first 48 players registered with payment for the 2019 Vancouver Open. The 96 amateurs who made the cut in the 2018 Vancouver Open will have priority entry to the Vancouver Open until August 1st, 2019. After such a time, the field will be filled with those players who have registered on a first come, first paid basis.

NOTE: If a player who enters with payment does not gain entry they will have their entries refunded in full.


All Players must provide at least 5 days notice at 6pm PST to qualify for a full refund of their entry. 

  • All non-members must confirm their withdrawal by email to and ALL members must withdraw through Golf Genius Member’s section or with an email to by the deadline.
  • Players who provide less than 5 days’ notice for their withdrawal but more than 72 hours’ notice will qualify for a refund less $100 + GST admin fee.
  • Players who do not provide 72 hours’ notice of their withdrawal will forfeit their full entry fee.
  • Players who register for the Vancouver Open and subsequently qualify for a Tour or PGA Tour or PGA TOUR Latino American event (that conflicts with the Vancouver Open) will have their entry fees fully refunded as long as VGT is notified in writing to more than 72 hours in advance and a player receives confirmation of this email. Failure to notify VGT more than 72 hours in advance will result in the normal withdrawal policy applying above.

NOTE: All penalties must be paid in full before their registration is accepted for any future VGT events.


PGA Members of BC – PGA of BC Professionals must call the host GC Professional for booking and approval.  Each competing PGA member is eligible for 1 comp round at each course only from Friday – Monday after 2:00pm.  No play on Tues – Thurs.  PGA Professionals must present their PGA Card at time of check-in in order for the comp round.

Non PGA Member Competing Pros – Same rules as above, however non PGA of BC Professionals must bring 3 full paying players with them for a complimentary round.

General Practice Rounds for Competitors – 

  • Wed Aug 28th limited rounds available ($40.00+tx) – Call Pro Shop for booking (604-257-6923).
  • Some additional allowances may be made the week before the event for practice rounds outside of Aug. 28th but will be determined later and restrictions will apply.
