Amateur David Cao tee’s off on the 10th at Langara Golf Club en route to an even round of 71 on the day. Cao had the Overall Amateur Title in his grasp until doubles on the back nine and a bogey on the final hole de-railed him and cost him the Championship. He would lose to Amateur Kris Yardley by one shot! Cao has been a force on the VGT Amateur circuit this year, winning three times and holds a commanding lead on the Cleveland/Srixon Amateur Order of Merit.
McCleery plays host to the Professionals and Championship Amateurs in the First Round of the Vancouver Open Championship on Friday, Sept.2nd.
Canadian Tour veteran Darren Griff hits to the par five 11th hole at McCleery Golf Course. Griff scored rounds of 68, 68, 72, good for a t3rd place in the tournament.
